KOKO

The KOKO project is an architecturally designed mixed-use precinct in the Molonglo Valley suburb of Wright. The development comprises four key buildings constructed over four stages, including:

• An eight storey residential building comprising approximately 172 apartments with specialty retail tenancies on the ground floor. The ground floor will also include a Woolworths supermarket which will cater for the needs of this fast growing prestigious area of Canberra.
• Residential terrace/townhouses and portions of low-rise retail/commercial tenancies located above the undercroft car park.
• A standalone retail building to the northern corner of the precinct will also accommodate an ALDI supermarket for the local residents in the Molonglo Valley.
• A multi-storey hotel and serviced apartments building.

This unique development is the largest mixed-use precinct in the Molonglo Valley, with all four stages and buildings situated on the common multi-storey basement carpark. Due to the development forming a United Building, brought several challenges with complex fire engineering required to the fire safety systems in the building. The large footprint of the site also required careful consideration of evacuation systems and access for the fire brigade.
